ABOUT THE FORMER DUMARESQ SHIRE

Dumaresq Shire was located in the heart of the New England Area of New South Wales, centered on the City of Armidale.

It was a predominantly rural Shire with an area of 4,168 square kilometres and a population of 3,950. Centres of population included Hillgrove, Wollomombi and Ebor.

Fine wool, beef, tourism and gold are the primary industries whilst tourism and employment within the education sector all contribute towards the economic well-being of this scenic area.
